Recipe from Pioneer Woman - half glazed, half with cinnamon sugar.
More Farmer Boy fun! Could Almanzo talk about doughnuts more? I made mine the 'new fangled' round shape but intend to try Mrs. Wilder's twist soon. These were very, very good. They were crisp on the outside and super light and fluffy on the inside. The dough is dreamy to work with - made the night before, set overnight in the fridge, roll out, cut, rise, and fry. I'm not up for much of a challenge in the mornings these days, but I didn't find these too troublesome. The only change I would make to my first batch is to roll them a bit thicker. And just a note that I halved the batch which made plenty for our family of five - the baby loved them.
The first few weeks of school have been tough - ironing out the kinks in the lesson plans, adjusting to our faster pace, managing alone as it seemed my husband had a business trip every week for the last couple of months (probably not entirely accurate, but close to it). Frankly, I've been in a rotten mood and texted my husband, "I quit" last week. But yesterday, our first fall school morning, was beautiful. The weather is cooling down and things are falling into place again. (I hope)
