I can't seem to write a proper post but my father chastised me for not writing here every day. I told him that would consist of me letting the baby bang on the keyboard and... 'Publish!'. So. Fill in the blank post. For you, Daddy.
Outside my window... Chilly. We are in the midst of the big winter clean up to be followed closely by the big spring planting.
I am thinking... of writing a birth story? There wasn't much to it but already the details are fading and I think I want to write it down before it disappears.
I am thankful... for the happy little munchkin jumping in her excersaucer beside me. I have been militantly minimalist with this baby. We haven't brought any baby toys into the house because I insisted she didn't really need them. The whole world is new to her! She doesn't need any brightly colored plastic contraption! But a hand me down excersaucer was forced on us and wow, y'all. She loves it. I have whole minutes to do stuff. Young children like toys. Who would have thought?
In the kitchen... I made chicken noodle soup yesterday and a spinach pasta with goodies from the garden. I am so, so thrilled with our raised beds.
I am wearing... An Elvis Andrus t-shirt. That guy just never stops smiling.
I am creating... Way too many things. A February Baby Sweater is still on the needles but I'm craving a patchwork project. The dress I cut out was whipped up in an afternoon - fits - and will be worn to Mass on Sunday. Nice.
I am going... I probably have to run to Target today. I'm meeting up with a friend from high school tonight and that merits addressing my roots. ;)
I am wondering... if I'm going to get to finish this post.
I am reading... The Bronze Bow with my daughter - beautiful writing, rich story so far. The Children of Noisy Village to both children- cute and short chapters. Fireside Stories to my son. We love this book. The illustrations are gorgeous and it's such a cozy little winter storybook. Miffy in the Snow to my baby. Not a thing to myself. I'm supposed to be reading The Divine Comedy for a study group. Any translation recommendations?
I am hoping... that the baby takes a nap or two today?
I am looking forward to... my son's First Communion this spring. I was looking over paperwork this morning and imagining him in a little suit! My husband is going to take him man shopping for a tiny suit! Le sigh!
I am learning... (skip!)
Around the house... It's looking like a laboratory over here. We have so many little projects going on. Spring planting, sewing and knitting, cooking experiments.
I am pondering... (skip!)
A favorite quote for today... I think a proper daybook would have a quote from a saint or something here, but here I am with Dave Barry:
"..understanding that you suck at some things is useful information in life. The world would be a better place if people were fully cognizant of their areas of suckage."
I think this is so important! My daughter was a terrible swimmer. If she didn't sink, she moved backwards. I told her she was not a naturally gifted swimmer and that she would have to work a lot harder than some people. So she did and she's a great swimmer now. I think that's such a valuable lesson for children. Did I already post this quote before? I meant to, but I can't remember.
One of my favorite things... Too many to name! Time running out!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Various extracurricular happenings. Yawn!
A peek into my day...
Off the needles and onto her chubby little legs! Merry Janes.
Aaaaand publish!
