We just returned from our annual (not) camping trip. My husband refused to let me camp with a newborn baby due to the cold nights in the Rocky Mountains. We stayed in a condo instead with my parents and brother's family. A condo can't compare to going to sleep under the stars and waking to the birds, but the grandchildren toddling in to Grandma's kitchen for breakfast in the morning was just right.
I did manage to stay outside most of the time. Hiking with the baby was wonderful. I thought the Baby Bjorn would be my carrier of choice for hiking, but the Maya won hands down. She still doesn't quite fill out the Bjorn but the Maya kept her snuggled enough that she just fell asleep. I didn't even have to stop hiking to breastfeed which was nice and made me feel like a lactating super hero.
I have hundreds of gorgeous photos I intended to share but time is too short right now. I see that it's the unofficial start of the school year in the Catholic homeschooling blogosphere. Hm. I'm still so not ready. I've thrown the books out of the coffee table and my lesson plans consist of taking it one day at a time and hoping for the best. Inspiring, huh? Pin that!
In truth, I hope to pull things together over the next week. To the rest of you - I hope you are having a super first day of school!
