We wrapped up Week 2 (or just about). The challenge for this week was/is that everyone is sick. But we sort of took it in turns and kept lessons moving forward. I downloaded Our Island Story last night to dovetail with our Middle Ages study (I hope...). $0.99 on Kindle and purchased and delivered instantly in the middle of the night. You can't beat that for an anxious homeschooling mom. We're also lingering for a bit over Julius Caesar so Plutarch and Shakespeare are on our plate today.
Jenn: Um, Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. I try to keep my reading a little more sophisticated than that, but I was sick and not in the mood to punish myself with Middlemarch. Up next in the queue: Hey Ranger! : True Tales of Humor and Misadventure from America's National Parks. When we were children, my parents took us on road/camping trips every summer (8 of us in an RV, God bless them!) and I am continuing the tradition with my own children. I have high hopes for this book!
My 12(!) year old daughter: We are reading Little Women together. We've read it together before, but I think it improves with repetition. She is reading A Little Princess (again) as a book club selection. She's also in the middle of The Sea of Monsters. All of this will be tossed aside this weekend for The Prairie Thief! We're so excited to have a new Melissa Wiley book in our hands! Though exhausted and sick, we had to dive in as soon as we got it home last night. I can tell it is written by someone who has read many books aloud as the words flow almost lyrically.
My 8 yo son: Favorites on repeat right now: Stellaluna. This was a new addition. The illustrations are gorgeous. Also new and an instant favorite: Little Pookie and Night, Night Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton. My son is probably too old to enjoy board books as much as he does, but then, I'm 35 and I'm completely smitten with Little Pookie.
My 3 month old: Ah! Her first appearance in the Friday Morning Book Post! My husband read to her from our well worn copy of There's a Wocket in my Pocket.
I hope you have a lovely long weekend, friends!
