Not too much to discuss today, but Friday is the only day (lately) that I am sure to post, so here I am!
I did wrap up The Call of the Wild with the children. It was a great read for a subject that didn't particularly interest any of us. I'm happy we read it and I am happy to move on.
I also finished The Forgotten Garden. It was a page turner and a great mystery. I don't think I really ever connected with any of the characters and so I would say I think it is good, not great. I read so many great reviews that I expected it to be the best! book! ever! It might be better than I realize right now, but coming on the heels of Dracula anything would be a let down.
I began Middlemarch. I don't have any idea how long this book is, but it could seriously kill my momentum. I've been reading for three nights before bed and according to my Kindle, I'm still only 1% of the way through the book. That's discouraging. But I have logged five books in January and that's my goal so I suppose I can linger a bit over this one.
OK, I hope you all have a happy weekend!
I really liked The Forgotten Garden, her other book, not so much at all. I do think TFG was **very** well written, but of course, that doesn't mean that every reader will like it, nor is there any reason for them all to ... (I mean, not everyone can Love the same book, right?). I happen to really enjoy books that shift timelines and perspectives, so it worked for me
I've never read Middlemarch -- good luck with that!

Middlemarch is long! It's been awhile, but I think it took me some time to get into it--then I loved it! Just about to download Dracula to my ipad. I would have never thought to read it, but it sounds interesting.

Middlemarch is mammoth, but soooo worth it. And you'll get sucked in at certain points and be unable to put it down. I love that book so very much.
We're having the same percentage-points issue with David Copperfield on Kindle. We've been at 3% all week. :) But lots has happened!!

Ugh, perhaps its because I had to read George Eliot at uni, but I can't stand Middlemarch. And I'd never plough on with a book I didn't like, so I admire your perseverance.

Interesting sarah! I always feel like once I commit to a book I have to finish it. And its so silly really, because WHY? Why do I have to finish? These are the arguments I have in my head.
