We added Cooking to my daughter's lesson plans this year. She enjoys cooking. Almost to where it makes me feel guilty that I don't as much as I used to. But once one has to clean up after oneself, cooking is less appealing. She's learned that lesson too so she's decided to start cooking on Sunday, which is her one day off from kitchen duties. Clever girl.
She searches my coobooks and makes her plans early in the week. She gives me a list of ingredients on Friday or Saturday. She's made macaroni and cheese from scratch (except for the pasta itself), enchiladas, and some sausage/pasta recipe from Giada. Usually these meals are paired with a colorful summer salad. There are so many skills involved that I take for granted. Proper and safe cutting techniques, timing, keeping your work space neat... It's been a really great experience for all of us.

If I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing, I have little time to check in here. But I would like to document a little more of what we are doing, if only for my own records. We'll see if I can manage that this week!
I definitely want to record that my thermometer is reading 68 degrees right now. Happy Labor Day, friends!
