I'm letting my daughter finish The Mysterious Benedict Society on her own because it just didn't suit me and I didn't like reading it to her enough to read it as quickly as she wanted me to. That was such a horribly written sentence that I ended it with a preposition on purpose to add a little extra cringe.
The Harp and Laurel Wreath made its way into this year's school book pile and I've been reading it to both children in the evenings. I don't think I care much for poetry, but every now and then I find it charming to read aloud. This is a great collection.
We ended up taking a proper summer break. Don't know how that happened. Our new start date is August 15th. I'm opening newly arrived boxes and gathering old books from under beds and closet corners. I'm very much looking forward to opening up the box of fall picture books for my son. It's taking some time to put together, but it's all very happy work.
Books on my mind for fall:
Look here! Elisa joined me this week for the Saturday Morning Book Post (even though I'm a day late!) Check out her dreamy photos of Switzerland.
