My husband mentioned a particular realm of housekeeping a few days ago and I got that deer-in-the-headlights look because I had not yet made a summer quilt. Which sounds a little overly dramatic because it's like a billion degrees outside every single day but it is of consequence, I promise.
I started a summer quilt, many weeks ago. The piecing was mostly done in the first week of June. It was assembled from the scrap box with prints I liked, though nothing I loved all together. The colors reminded me of a mellow summer evening. I had very little desire to finish it. So I didn't. I just stitched the patchwork top to an old sheet, right side to right side and it became a duvet cover for a king sized down comforter I had chopped in two (this is tricky - I don't recommend it unless you want feathers everywhere). There was the matter of the insert which I sloppily closed off with velcro because I didn't think I'd care.
But seeing it done, I do care because I like it. My husband does as well. He asked if it was comfortable and I let him check it out and he immediately claimed it as his own. It's nice because he largely doesn't pay much attention to sewing or knitting projects. It's probably for the best, because if he did, he might be disturbed by how much wool is actually in his home. I know I am.
P.S. on yesterday's post. Quilts are even tricker to photograph than yarn. I seriously don't have the patience which is kind of funny because I do have the patience to spin wool into yarn then knit it into socks, but taking nice photos of the finished socks? Not all that interested.
That is so pretty and summery! I can see why it is to photograph, though, so big and flat.

Lol. I think it's beautiful! It looks very comfy.
I am trying to sew a ruffl-y skirt for my niece. It was quite frustrating today. But it's going to be so cute! I don't know why I keep sewing some days. The bobbin thing ends up getting all mad at me and I always have to seam rip something. Oh well. I'm very determined.

very pretty! i had to laugh at the method for the batting. i thought i would be slick and save some money once, so i bought a feather pillow at marshalls and then cut it in half for couch pillows. messy, to say the least.
