I found my baby in this position yesterday saying, "Om" to himself.  

(No, we don't really practice yoga 'round here.  I've no explanation, which is why I love him so much.)

On my mind.

I happened upon this article last week and was struck by the following passage:

"Women's primary power is as consumers, and as long as we keep buying, and encouraging our friends to buy, we're considered powerful."

Y'all, I'm not a feminist (I'm referring to the popular usage of the term here) but this article really hit upon an undercurrent present in the blogosphere lately.  I've been thinking recently of why I started this blog.  I'm not a writer (I've made that abundantly clear!) and I'm actually a pretty private person. I don't use it to rant about things I wouldn't say in real life.  

I use it to organize and document a portion of our lives.  I use it as an outlet for the excess creativity rattling around in my head.  I use it, most of all, to connect with like minded individuals. There are so many of you that would not be a part of my life without this space.  For that, I'm so grateful.  Because of your own blogs and comments here, I'm a much happier person than I was before.

Better to have knit and lost

The most beautiful socks I've ever seen.  And only my second pair to knit.  

Knit in merino and linen in a pasty white oatmeal color so flattering on the legs (that's sarcasm, my friends).

Very practical with all my stay-at-home mom outfits.  (Oooh, my skin looks a little dry in this picture.)

With this gorgeous lace pattern straight up the back that looks ridiculous if not entirely centered and would never stay entirely centered.

They are already starting to slip in this photo.

Down they go!  This is a great look.

I learned a lot about gauge knitting these socks.  I learned a lot about reading charts, lace and hidden decreases.  I also learned that linen has no elasticity. 

But most importantly that gorgeous yarn can be frogged and knit again.
