My good friend Deneise came up with the brilliant idea to host a giveaway here to encourage people to donate to some of the aid organizations helping with the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan.
This giveaway will be modeled on a few we've seen on Ravelry. We'd like to encourage a $10 minimum donation to Catholic Relief Services or the Red Cross. Most of the Ravelry giveaways are asking for proof in the form of an email confirmation. I have a hard time thinking any of my friendly readers would lie about donating money to charity so I won't request that you show proof. Leave a note in the comments section after you donate and your name will be entered into a random drawing to win one of four lovely prizes.
1. A skein of Sunshine Luxury Sport Yarn (250 yards of a merino/cashmere/nylon blend) in the Wisteria colorway.
2. Three skeins of Sublime Yarns Cashmere Merino Silk Aran (94 yards each - color 006)
3. A 440 yard skein of Malabrigo Sock Yarn in colorway Stonechat
4. A new paperback copy of Across the Puddingstone Dam by the fabulous Melissa Wiley, which is sadly out of print. I managed to find one just sitting there on a local bookstore shelf last year and snatched it up.
If you are not a knitter, please let me know in the comments and I will only enter your name in the book drawing. All other names will be entered to win one of our three yarn prizes. I'll leave the comments open until Thursday at 8:00 PM Central Time and announce the winners on Friday morning. Thank you friends! I hope that we can provide some much needed assistance to these worthy organizations! A very special thanks to my lovely friend Deneise for providing some of the prizes and for prompting me to do this in the first place!
This is such a good idea, even though I feel as though I only made the donation so I could score some free yarn! I don't know why we hadn't made a donation yet, but we hadn't, and this was the catalyst. So, thanks for being so generous.

Jen, what a great idea! I'm off to make a donation. I'll spread the word, too.

Thanks so much Jenn for helping me with this fun raffle. I can't think of a more lovely group of women to help us raise money for Japan than your sweet friends. :)

Jenn, if the winner of Puddingstone Dam would like it signed, I'd be happy to oblige. You could send the book to me and I could send it on to the winner, or I could send along a bookplate. :)
Lovely idea, my dear!

This is a great idea. Thanks for the extra push to donate...I rarely do anything money related in this house, so I'm glad I was reminded to donate. I love CRS too. =) Please enter me in the drawing...what a generous giveaway. Too bad Melissa's book is out of print - is that FOREVER? Because once I have girls, I want to read all of them!

Our company has a branch in Japan and we were all so worried and wondered how we could help. Luckily, our company decided to host a blanket drive/fund drive so we were all able to help!
Thanks for the chance to win a lovely prize!

I came via Melissa Wiley, and I donated -- this was just the push I needed. I'll be honest and say I'm not much of a knitter, though - I'm desperately hoping for the copy of Puddingstone Dam for my Laura-crazy 6 year old son!

What a wonderful idea. Please count me in. We have been watching the news about Japan and daily it seems to get worse. So very sad.

We just made a donation and already have a copy of Melissa's book so you can just enter us in for the yarn! Thanks for the push to make a donation!

What a great give-away! I saw this over at Charlotte's and would love to be entered to win either the yarn or the book. You have very beautiful yarn, and my daughter's love the Charlotte Years books.:)

A student at the University where my husband teaches, whose parents live in Japan, is also fundraising for Catholic Relief Services, so we've donated.
Thanks for hosting this!
