A little Russian doll
I made this little doll over the summer. It was all from an old pattern I found on Ebay. I've toyed with the Waldorf style dolls before, but this was far more fun to put together. It was time consuming - the embroidered linen clothes took as much thought as work but they are my favorite part. There are some things I would sew differently next time around, but as a prototype I kind of love her. The children do as well. She is a great size to carry around and love, smaller and sturdier than the Waldorf dolls I made.
My son just crawled into my lap and so time here is up. I wish I could write more poetically and thoughtfully and consistently but they come first. As it should be.

Jennifer! She is beautiful .... what fun. And you could do other dolls to match her for a great geography/history study! I love it....
You clever lady!

Okay, I was going to say how beautiful she is and how talented you are, but everybody else already said that!

I am so impressed. That really is very beautiful. I love her eyes. And by the way I don't want poetry and consistent posting from you, I just am grateful to view the beauty you make from everyday life.

Love it! I'm a bit envious as our handcrafting days are somewhat on hold right now. My boys are definitely getting increasingly rambunctious as the winter comes and they don't run around outside as much. This makes any time to sit over projects with the girls a bit difficult. Keep posting what you're doing - the inspiration may just get us going again!

Oh my, I love her too!! So, so precious and sweet. So, when are you going to open an Etsy shop so we can buy her (and those gorgeous knit knee socks you posted a while back)? I'm waiting....

jennifer, she is so beautiful. you did such a wonderful job. i am always so envious of people who have the patience to work so meticulously on a project that requires great detail. but then look at how it paid off! i usually get so frustrated with things i can't finish in a few days! she reminds me of a little spanish senorita doll that my mother-in-law made for my daugher, only hers was on a smaller scale.she even had tiny beaded earrings and ribbons in her hair. anyhow, great job!
