In Praise of Magnifikid and other tales from Mass
It was completely silent during Mass last night as we were waiting for the first reading. My son was returning from the bathroom with my husband when he joyfully and clearly exclaimed, "Mommy, I did it a potty!!" And then later he somehow got his head stuck between my husband's knees and started yelling, "Help! Help!".
My daughter was lovely and well behaved. I gave her this week's Magnifikid before we left and as she followed along she turned to me and whispered, "I actually like Mass again!" And Magnifikid is wonderful! Let's face it, Mass can be boring for a young child who cannot see, hear, or understand what is happening. Lucy was so happy to follow along in her little booklet. Wouldn't a subscription to Magnifikid! be such a wonderful Christmas present? Ahem. Just sayin'.
*It is with sadness and tremendous relief that I finished The Order of the Phoenix. And though I was within 100 yards of a bookstore last night I resisted the urge to buy Book 6 because I just can't. I must live again. Although, I did find myself on (the shame!) some Harry Potter message boards last night to see how many OWLS he received. Commence mocking me, little brother. And Siriusly, if the ending to the book is actually what happened, I am not happy.
But how cute that he was so proud of himself. It could have been worse...like with details of what went in the potty or something.

My ds followed along with Magnifikid yesterday and it was great. It was the first time all summer that I remembered to bring it. You're very funny about HP.

I'm not sure how your son's head could get stuck like that during mass but the image made me giggle.
It reminded me of the time I called out to my uncle that his fly was undone. Yeah, but he was a minister, and he was in the middle of delivering a sermon at the time. I feel painfully embarrassed to remember that now but didn't know at the time why I got in trouble for it.
